Solve this ques for me please A tangent to ellipse x^2 + 4(y^2)=4 meets the ellipse x^2 + 2(y^2)=6 at points P & Q. Tangents at P & Q to the latter ellipse meet at point R.Calculate anglePRQ.

since any tangent to the ellipse can be taken , take the tangent at vertex for simplicity in calculation.
eq of tangent at vertex for ellipse1is x=-2
so, the coordinates at which it will intersect ellipse2 are let's say
(-2,p) & (-2,-p) since the ellipse2 is symmetrical about the axes.
so, using parametric co-ordinates.
cos=-root(2/3)
sin=+1/root3
P = (-2,1)
Q=(-2,-1)
equations of tangents
@P=> x-y+3=0 (m1=1)
@Q=> x+y+3=0 (m2=-1)
since m1m2=-1
the angle between the tangents is 90

the tangent at vertex is also a tangent, it can be proved for general case too, but it will save a lot of time in the exam paper if you go by my method.
