What is the difference between the following graphs :-
f(x) = max ( |x| , |y| ) 2
and
f(x) = min ( |x| , |y| ) 2
a graph drawn with an explaination would surely be a great help !!

first one represents a complete solid square(containing origin) plate in xy plane having its sides on x=-2,x=2,y=2,y=-2 but second 1 represents the square with sides x=-2,x=2,y=2,y=-2 excluding origin + the squae containing the origin also i.e the total x-y plane

according to me the first one is straight line y=x from (0,0) to (2,2) the second one is straight line y=-x from (0,0) to (2,-2)

Its purely a though provoking problem.
You have to analyze for different regions in the plane.
max ( |x| , |y| ) 2 represents a square bounded by the lines x = 2, x = -2, y = 2, y = -2
min ( |x| , |y| ) 2 represents the region enclosed between x = 2 and x= -2 from - to and the region between y = 2 and y = -2 from - to .
