The temperature of the atmosphere at high altitude is about 500o C. Yet an animal there would freeze to death and not boil. Explain.

pressure is tremendously low at high altitudes...
boling point is the point at which the pressure equals external(atm)pressure...when the outer pressure is so low the animal won't boil but freeze since boiling point will be much higher

akhil bhai
i think u r wrong
aacording to ur defination boiling point should be low as external pressure is very low
so BP is easily availaible

according to me animal body would burn (neither freeze nor boil)

how can temp be so high in the atmosphere ......then there will not be any water vapours.......also temp at a hill station is less compared to that in sea level....

P   T
therefore as T increase  P increases  ,

now  boiling point  P  so as the  pressure  increases boiling point also increases  thus no chance of boiling  but as the pressure increases the  substances becomes change state in following order

gas  ----  to  ------ liquid  ------- to solid
so the person dies  vecause of freezing

ok tell me why under a skaters shoes ice melts to water........

not bcos of increase in temp. but bcos of press....

there r fluids which when applied to increasin press may rise boilin point or lower it ........ it is their property.......

therefore whn P decreases melting point inceases thus cusing blood to freeze.....

ya bhupesh sir may also be rit....... reasons are logical and gud
( below)
Cheers!!!!!!!

At high altitude the air get thinner a thin air means no heat absorption you have to differentiate between temperature and heat.Because of the lower pressure, the air expands as it rises, which causes it to cool. Thus, high altitude air is cold .
