From kinetic theory of gases v 've exp 4 rms speed as
Vrms=?3RT/M=?3PV/M
Dividing eqns 4 initial & final conditions
Vrms1 /Vrms2 =?V1/V2
Substing and squaring
(3/2)^2 = V1/ V2
or V2=4/9 V1
Thus molecules 've 2 b expanded 4/9 times its original volume.Atomicity of gas doesn't matter
Hope its ALLCLEAR!!!Bye...

Thanks a ton..but over here 3RT/M=3PV/M'  , M'=NM.

Okay...Now c, actually KGT saya
P=1/3*density*mean square velocity
When v substitute M/V for density,
P=1/3*Mv^2/V
Note tat if v substitute 4 1 mol of substance,M bcoms molar mass
&using ideal gas eqn PV=RT ,v get

v=3RT/M
Ur confusion is bcoz u don't see its 4 1 mol tat v convert da basic eqn...v dont subst density with a simple mass/volume...but molar mass..
