I don't agree completely. For aieee, yes, it should be enough, but definitely not for jee. It is an easy chapter compared to the others though.

Nope. You gotta understand the topic.
E.g. Please check this year's paper. You couldnt solve those thermodynamic questions using just formula unless you know the concept thoroughly which tell you how to apply the formulae.
