when the energy is transferred to an atom it possess vibrational energy. does it even

When the energy is transferred to an atom it possess vibrational energy. does it even start having rotational or transational motion.??

' every atom has vibrational , rotational and translational motion even if the energy is not transfered to it provided the temperature of the system is not 0 K '
the air in your room consists of many molecules. every molecule has vibrational, translational and rotational co-ordinate though we don't consider rotational motion in molecules having degree of freedom 3 due to less moment of inertia. so never confuse that only when you heat a gas its molecule has the above coordinate .
NOTE : all degree of freedom might not excite at the same temperature.
