How can we say that beriliumoxide is amphotaric by nature and why?

BeO reacts with acid as well as base thats why it is amphoteric.
 Reaction with base:
BeO +2NaOH----> Na2BeO2 + H2
 Reaction with acid:
BeO + 2HCl------> BeCl2 + H2O
and thats because it has the lowest electrode potential in the group.
