Coordination Chemistry Confusion
None

i am facing a problem in deciding hybridisation in coordination compounds on the basis of valence bond theory. i am unable to decide when to pair up electrons and when not to pair up electrons. also, the magnetic moments is not given in several of the questions that would have enabled me to decide the number of unpaired electrons. pls provide a key to finding hybridisation of coordination compounds when the magnetic moment is not given in the question.

thnx

you should remember or mug up which ligand is strong and which one is weak, when the complex compound is formed by weak ligands no pairing of electrons takes place i.e it follows pauli's exclusion principle and ehen strong ligands forms the complex pairing of electrons takes place as such.
