Which of the following reactions are kinetically favourable ?
I : [Cu(H2O)4]+2+ 4NH3 [Cu(NH3)4]+2 + 4H2O
II : [Cu(H2O)4]+2+ 4Cl- [CuCl4]2- + 4H2O
III: [Co(H2O)6]+3 + 6Cl- [CoCl6]3- + 4H2O
And please explain in detail the logic behind it .

i think it is a coz NH3 is a strong field ligand and is more stable

higher the charge density on the central metal or ion gr8er is the stability Cyano and ammine complexes are more stable than the others

I think Ninad is rite
Even I thought on the same lines
Strong field ligands have the ability to give exceptionally stable coordination cpds
Don't know abt Cyano cpds.......Ninad , aren't cyano cpds unstable?? They are kinetically favoured but not thermodynamically favoured Hence they are used in Gold extraction
Hope I am rite!!

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

Does this mean that a strong field ligand will replace a weak ligand when brought in contact with the complex?

well there is an other way of seeing it NH3 can donate electrons better than water and hence it can displace water unlike chlorine which is a very weak base
