i was just goin hrough ncert when i came across the fact"basicity in group 5 decreases down the grup......while reducing tendency increses ....now how is it possible...reducing tendency increases means it will it self oxidise...that means it can better donate electrons...now if goin down the group it can better donate electrons then how can basicity decreaes?????? pplzzz help

reducing strength ........the term is not all about acidic basic strength ......to be more accurate its reduction potential which is always measured in solution forms so includes many other factors like hydration enthalpy  etc etc.................
