how can the metallic lustre exhibited by sodium be explained ????

Hi, the metallic lustre can be explained as follows : Sodium is electropositive element. When light falls on it, free electrons absorb it and emit them. Thus a bright metallic lustre is observed. In sodium sample, a lot of electrons are free and hence a lot of light is absorbed and emitted leading to a bright lustre. Hope you have got it !!!
