How can the following reaction be made to proceed in toward direction?
B(OH)3 + NaOH NaBO2 + Na[B(OH)4] + H2O
(a) addition of borax
(b) addition of cis 1, 2 diol
(c) addition of Na2HPO4
(d) addition of trans 1, 2 diol
 
well answer is given b can anyone tell me the reason for this rates assured

Answer is b, this is because a intermediate complex is formed which makes the rn more favourable
