In IR spectra CO shows a spectrum of 1790 cm-1 for Fe(CO) .What can you conclude from this?

Hi

The photolysis of Fe(CO) gives Fe(CO)5 . This is dissolved in heptane and then exposed to the radiations. The spectra of  CO which is 1790 cm-1 leads to the conclusion of imortant results like the formation of
Fe(CO)4   and Fe(CO)3 .
It shows How Fe(CO)5 loses two CO groups by radiating one photon etc.

Cheers!

Plus, It also indicates that the bond length of CO is different in Fe(CO)5 then in normal carbon monoxide gas molecule

ya there is two types of CO groups.one is bridge carbonyl while other is terminal carbonyl ,hybridisation is dsp3 trigonal bypyramidal.if we go reaction with pyridine two carbonyl undergo easy substitution.
