Hello
When p orbital of an atom overlaps with p orbital of another atom p
--p
multiple bonds r formed Carbon has max. tendency to form this type of bond bcoz it lacks vacant d orbitals It is called p
----p
bonding as the p orbitals overlap sideways resulting in the formation of pie bonds

Rohit u cannot ask more than 1 ques. per nickle so next time b careful
Have a nice day

multiple bonding is the sideways overlapping of p orbitals when p orbital of one atom overlaps with p orbital of another atom.
Catenation is the ability of a chemical element to form covalent bonds with itself, resulting in ring, chain and cage molecules. The element most well known for its catenation is carbon.Carbon has the ability to form both sigma and pi bonds to itself. This is due to an overlap between pi-electron orbitals, allowing electron density to be shared and thus stabilising the bond.Silicon on the other hand has negligible overlap between pi-orbitals, and thus tends to not form pi-bonds by preference. As a result, silicon has a relatively poor capacity for catenation.

multiple bonding occurs when the unhybridized p orbitals on each carbon atom overlap sidewise.

multiple bonding occurs when the unhybridized p orbitals on each carbon atom overlap sidewise.Catenation- Carbon has the ability to bond successively to other atoms to form chains of varying lengths and shapes, straight chains, branched or rings. This property of carbon called the catenation is responsible for the variety and large number of organic compounds.
