SF6 and IF7 are having morethan eight electrons in their outer most shell
hence even xenon can extend its octet, under certain conditions...helium and the other noble gases have comparitively high IP values and smaller size. hence they dont form compouds while xenon can













in 1962 Neil Bartlett at the University of British Columbia treated xenon gas with PtF6 and prepared the first noble gas compound consisting of platinum, fluorine and xenon.
This is because xenon has ionization potential similar to oxygen.
a natural question that arises is why radon cannot...this is because it is radioactive.
