i am basically weak in chemistry so i want a chemistry book that covers both organic and inorganic topics with good, detailed theory and excellent problems. right now i have conceptual chemistry by s.k jain. is it alright or do you recommend anyother book

I have posted links to some chemistry books. u can download and have a look at these books and let us know if you find these useful. and if u don't find these books useful tell so that the links to these books can be removed so that time of other forum members is not wasted

thanks hdani but i am not able to study from ebooks. but coming to my question, can anyone suggest one book which is good for both organic and inorganic and contains good problems as well. i have s k jain which i can return to the book seller but i, at leat need to know which book to exchange it for.

well , you can have an idea about the book from the ebook-- which if you find useful , you can either print else buy from the book store or even get it xeroxed from the liberary. The choice is yours. but certinly you can NOT avoide ebooks

1.O.P.Agrawal-nice covering of most chpts.
2.O.P.Tondon-only of inorganic is best
3.P.Bahadur-for numericals
4.for organic morrison & boyd is good for indepth knowdge.
5.inorganic-J.D.Lee
u mt have know them.with best wishes for ur prep

Hi there,
The books mentioned by prashant are pretty much what I usually recommend to students wanting to master Chemistry and secure good ranks in IIT JEE and other important examinations.
Morrison and Boyd is a great book and clears your concepts in Organic like none other. But, you will have to devote time to read this book regularly.
The same holds true for J D Lee in terms of Inorganic Chemistry.
You can also use R C Mukerjee for numericals.
Good Luck with your preparation.
