Since you have started your preparation hence you should concentrate hard on each & every topic...........& as per new pattern of JEE each & every chapter holds significance. After you've completed your syllabus you'll yourself realise what chapters are important. All your stregnths are important units.
It doesn't really matters how many hours of study you do for JEE but what really matters in amount of focus & dedications you put in that time of study. However, 5-6 hrs of self study is required at least.

See there is no hard and fast rule that u have to work certain number of hours , but yes u have to study regularly be 6-8-10-12 see amount of hours depends on u r understanding
Someone who understands things quickly may need only 7 hours of work daily
But someone who takes time to understand may need 10 hr of work daily
You should keep u r minimum to 7 and try to do more

I hv tried to answer this question today for someone studying in Class 11,
http://www.goiit.com/posts/list/counselling-daily-duration-for-self-studies-18783.htm
Since u r in Classs 12, u hv to decide on the # of hours required based on (a) how well u hv prepared so far ( that is, how well u managed your time for IITJEE in Class 11) & (b) the portion yet to be covered by u till Dec 07 etc etc...
Unless u make a comprehensive plan & make that plan work, this issue of # of hours will remain one of academic interest.
