dekh bhai.....if u want 2 go 2 kota then go....d teachers there r gud...but wat sets it apart frm others is its cut-throat competiton.....u get 2 live within d students who all have same goal so.it makes sure that u dont get distracted easily.....it keeps u on ur toes all d time wich is excellent considering d competiton...only a word of cauton...u unfortunately get an equal no of oppurtunities 2 spoil urself....also if u lag behind mny students then d urge 2 engage urself in other activities is tremendous wid no parents 2 look for u there....so if u can control urself well then sure go its heaven...if not then its better 2 study at home..as some students found out after going there nd leave d coaching of kota midway through...

Look dude... kota of course creates a difference, but only if you can handle it.
What any coaching institude does is that it makes you regular, there are tests conducted at regular intervals and all the chapters are covered, so that you give good amount of time on all the subjects and chapters.... and thats really important for a good preparation....
And of course, the teachers are really good.... i mean they know their subjects...
But there are negative aspects too... if you are unable to manage your time and stress... then of course you should go for kota..
there are sufficient no. of seats in bansal and reso, and they keep on increasing... the test is ofcourse a bit tough....
i will also suggest that if you don get into top two or three of the coachings in kota... consider returning home.. because there are lots more institutes which are no good....

My personal opinion : You should prefer going to a dedicated fixed teacher running batches at your city of residence instead of coaching (anywhere). Take AITS alongwith it to keep testing yourself at an all india level. Most coaching institutes ignore lots of topics like statistics, etc. I took maths tuitions from a great teacher, manikant mishra in mayur vihar phase 2, new delhi. He is a VERY VERY dedicated teacher and he teaches all topics (this includes the conveniently ignored topics like statistics).. Apart from that, in delhi, Majid Khan's tuitions are really good (not centres who claim that majid khan teaches here, go to majid khans place in kalkaji). You'll find lots of dedicated students in these batches too. I don't think its a great idea to go to Kota because you have lots of stuff to worry about APART from studies.. (living alone, food, stuff like that).. plus i do not believe in giving up stuff like music, tv, movies because they provide a much needed break during those hard times...

In a nutshell, good teachers exist everywhere, fixed tutors means you have the flexibility of changing your tutor whenever u want to (if u aint satisfied).. coachin means you have to bear with whatever u may be allotted.. the former sounds better to me.. In my opinion, the only diff kota makes is - the competitiveness. However,  many other places have a LOT of aspirants too.. its all about having 4-5 brains around u actually, and that can be done at any city..

U say that people get in IITs from their home town but have u ever asked them how hard it was 4 them. in kota in bansal & reso  its very smooth ride (not easy) but a lot easier than ne other guy...distractions r every where here too but here u dont have parents to tell u abt good & bad but one thing is if u r committed u wont get distracted.acadmically u get the finest brains of india to compete it is the only place where u can benchmark urself. so if u can i suggest u go to bansal classes

Zeeshan,
Have u got thru' 10+2 already? If u'r answer is no, I presume u'r going to take admission in a school there for Class 12 as well while enrolling at Bansal's. The flipside is : u'll be competing with Rajasthan students for a share of the pie when AIEEE results get declared.
For example, Gujarat is an easy state to get a good State rank in AIEEE. If someone from Guj goes to Kota, he wd losing a big adv in AIEEE. Since u'r from UP, the loss may not be as drastic.

However, if u've cleared yr 10+2 already this yr, this is a non-issue.

@vaibhav - ROFL. Best academic brains of india? you mean to say all intelligent people migrate to kota for coaching? A large % of toppers are from kota, and that is simply because there are SO MANY people studying hard there!

Ofcourse there are benefits like having a competitive envt, but that can be found in your city too!  at most, you need 5-6 intelligent hardworking people around you.. which can be found at any town. What i'm saying is, if you look at the right places in your own city, you will be able to find people to compare yourself with. I whoeheartedly agree with you on the distraction-free environment part..however as i said earlier, i wouldn't be able to survive without my occasional breathers in the form of internet/movies/music once i get saturated with studies .. apart from that, i prefer my mom cooking and taking care of me while i study as opposed to being concerned about laundry/food etc while studying...

Its a personal decision in the end, but my personal opinion would be to stay in your hometown, and find hardworking intelligent people there itself (ONLY if your hometown has decent teachers!)
