Please tell me if the book "Organic Chemistry" by Hendrickson, Cram, Hammond is useful for concepts and IITJEE preparations. Publishers: McGRAW-HILL KOGAKUSHA

if u have to do ur masters in organic chem, i must say..its a gud one!!!!

but if u really wanna clear jee...forget it.... and do frm morrison-boyd at most... it will be much more than enuffff

Thanks for your advice, magicklo. One more question I ask you - Is there any way to diminish the boredom involved in studying inorganic chemistry. I find it the most tasteless topic on the whole earth. Do reply.

even for me its one of the worst thing, as m too bad at cramping things....

i suggest u onething, what i have done... jst give it a reading now... nd when u'll be having exams, then a month before, study it well, nt frm any high-fi book, but from textbooks.... nd then u'll rember it, atleast till exams.... thats what i have done

nd to mention a few things, do study all the structures, although they rnt asked anywhere in exam, but certainly they help in questions like asking no of lone-pairs or basisicity of acid etc etc...

. Please tell me, is there anything conceptually wrong in the book or is it just that it does not help JEE preparation. ( I am asking this because I found it more enjoyable than MTG Interactive Organic Chemistry)

Hi,
Appreciate your curiosity. The thing is, preparation has to be very focused and time tested books should be used to build up concepts. You can still read from this book if you get extra time. But keep your focus right on track. Morrison & Boyd is one of the best books I have ever come across. If I did not do B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, I would have done research in Organic Chemistry. Such is the motivation Morrison & Boyd gives. Above all, it's accurate to the core.
