I'm in the same boat as you...only I'm taking 1 yr correspondence..
Even that requires lots of dedication..you have to do around 12 chapters a month...all pretty big..
But yeah, if your first year concepts are clear,it won't be so difficult.
still, it'll surely improve your chances, provided you don't burn out...so just grab it with both hands and give it all you have!!!
also, dont neglect your Boards...remember most good colleges need you to get 80%+ in PCM!!!

look
their wont be any second doubt regarding the loads of hardwork u will have 2 do if u try to do both things simultaneously........
if u join coaching in 12 class,u will have 2 do the syllabus of both class together.......
many a times u will face a lot of difficulty in coordination with school and entrance preparation
most of the times the portion studied in coaching would not be near to the portion being taught in school
along with lot of hardwork u will have to coordinate properly between boards and entrances.........school and institute
most probably ,ur pre boards will coincide with ur mock test series at institute........u will be at loss if u miss any of these...............but u will have to choose that in which case u loose less!!!!!!!!
plus there is an added risk that u might not get selected anywhere and also do not score gud in boards{plz dont feel demotivated,,, i am saying wat i feel}.................which leaves u with no option
a better strategy{which ,according to me,is the best..........worked for me too.........},would be to take tutions and concentrate on boards............try to be thorogh with concepts in 12th.................dont forget most of entrances now{including iitjee }asks from the basic level concepts and knowledge.//.............
exams like bitsat.,aieee, dce etc have most of thier portions from ncert..........and good understanding of ncert almost guarantees success in these exams...............
so i will suggest u to be thorough with cbse syllabus................if u have time then{which is almost certain},try solving oblective books..................
if u have still time left........study 11th potion a bit..............
after board u have one and a half month..............convert that into 3 months by hardworking day and night.............
and if u didn't clear it that time................u may think to drop a year.............
