= (4-1)/2
=3/2

@ jorhri but [ x ] indicates gr8est integer function..so wont tht affect the value of integral..??

Just redefine the function f(x)=x[x]

when x E (0,1)            E=belongs to
[x]=0
=>f(x)=0

when x E (1,2)
[x]=1
=>f(x)=x

And so now u can integrate and get d answer. To be more clear heres d graph.
