well ,

u must have read this one somewhere ,but in a different way.

its an anecdote about a romantic couple of mathematicians.

here it goes:'

It was spring time saturday evening,

mr n mrs epstein decided to go on a romatic open air candle light dinner,

a cool breeze was blowing.There were stars in the sky twinnkiling mildly.Romance in the air.

The husband looks towards the sky and asks his wife"hon u see the star right there,wat do u think is the probability of a rose growing there?"

"0.5" replied the wife."What do u think about the doves living in there?"

"0.5 agin?" said the wife.

They went on in this way until the husband had now named 20 beautiful beings.

"What do u think is the probability of all of them being there now?"

the wife asked now.

"(1/2)^20"replied the husband.

"right",

said the wife

and "what do u think is probability of any one of them being there?"

agin the wife asked the perspiring husband.

"1-(1/2)^20"

replied the husband

'That means 0.99999!"replied the wife.

the husband gave up and they passed the night talking about it but could not conclude.

So all u probability buffs out there what do u think is there probiblity of life on a distant planet?

thats funny indeed.. proving any thing with probablity.. lol

well if there had been a probability of 0.5 of having a thing there (which unfortunately isn't d case).. then we could have dreamt of that.. :P
