A charged particle is accelerated through a potential difference of 12kV and acquires a speed of .It is then injected perpendicularly into a magnetic field of strength .Find the radius of the circle described by it.

we have potential x charge=kinetic energy 12x 10^3 x 1.6 x 10^-19=1/2mv^2 frm here u get v now use r=mv/qb

v=velocity, V=potential.
Now, qV=1/2 mv2
So, mv = 2qV/v -----(1)
Now, Radius(R) = mv/qb
Putting the value of mv from eq (1), we get
R= 2qV/vqB = 2V/vB.
U know all these values i.e., v,V,B. Put it in the formula to get the answer.
Hope this helps you.

use
QV=1/2mv2
using dis find out m/Q'
u know velocity
put it in the equation
R=mv/QB

@pink_ele, It is not given in the question that the charged particle is an electron or a proton. Its just a charged particle. SO u CANT take its charge = 1.6 x 10^-19.

qV= 1/2mv^2
m/q=24*10^-9
r=mv/bq
=24*10^-9 *10^6/.2 =.12 m = 12 cm

Arre yaar, why u all r taking q=1.6 x 10^-19??? It is NOT given in the question that the charged particle is an electron or a proton.

By the formula, R = 2V/vB, I am getting R= 12 cm. Is it correct?? Although by deriving that formula and by taking the particle to be a proton/electron, we are getting same answers but I think the electron/proton method is wrong becoz its not mentioned in the question.
