Q: An Inductance of 1H And resistance of 1ohm are connected in series with an alternating source of emf 200 volts and frequency 50 Hz . The time lag between voltage and current will be ?

The more I learn the more I get to know, the more I know the more I forget, the more I forget the less I know, so why should I be learning??

first find tan (theta) =XL/R....so t comes out to b 100pie....therefore theta is arc tan 100pie...which is approx 90 degree...
therefore since 2pie phase difference corresponds to time lag T hence pie/2 phase diff corresponds to time lag of 0.005.........where am i wrong.......?????? plz temme...

The phase lag is given by tan = XL/R

tan = wL/R = 2fL/R = 100

Hence time lag is given by :

t = (/2)T   (T = time period)

t = [{tan-1(100)}/2](1/50)

This is approx. t = 1/200 = 0.005 sec
