electronic configuration of Mg (groundstate) = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2
all electrons are paired , hence diamagnetic....

wat do u mean by magnesium metal and magnesium atom ???
even the metal wud consist of atoms only ....!!!!
woods are lovely, dark and deep.....
