EDDY CURRENTS IS A CURRENT (WHICH FLOWS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION w.r.t. TO ACTUAL CURRENT) WHICH OPPOSES THE FLOW OF ACTUAL CURRENT MAINLY DUE TO SELF INDUCTION.......THIS MAINLY HAPPENS IN TRANSFORMERS (IN WHICH THE INSIDE METAL COIL IS INSULATED AND IS CUT INTO VARIOUS SHAPES TO DECREASE THE HEATING PRODUCED DUE TO EDDY CURRENT FLOWING IN IT.......)

when a changing magnetic field is applied ,to a piece of conducting material circulatings currents called eddy currents are formed . when a metal plate is allowed to swing through magnetic field when entering or leaving eddy currents are developed . they oppose the motion this kinetic energy is didipited in the form of heat and it slows down the velocity of moving plate

in electricity, motion of electric charge induced entirely within a conducting material by a varying electric or magnetic field or by electromagnetic waves. Eddy currents induced in a power transformer core represent lost power and are undesirable; eddy currents used to produce heat for cooking or for a metallurgical furnace represent useful applications of the phenomenon.
