When a coil carrying an electric current is suspended in a uniform magnetic field, a torque acts on it. This torque tends to rotate the coil about the axis of suspension so that the magnetic flux passing through the coil is maximum.

when a current carrying loop is placed in uniform magnetic field it deflects and torque act on it.

:current in coil(i) is proportional to deflecting angle(teta)

Galvanometer works on the principle of conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy. When a current flows in a magnetic field it experiences a magnetic torque. If it is free to rotate under controlling torque, it rotates through an angle proportional to the current flowing through it.
