Inductor has same function in the circuits as springs have in some physical system. Springs reduce the impact of sudden increase or decrease of force on a body and prevent it from gettin damaged.

Similarly if you have an inductor in the circiut then sudden increase or decrease in current can be avoided.

inductor coils are also used to generate huge emfs. This huge emf may be required for some appliances to initiate.

I am not clear what do you mean by 'CAn we compare'?? Can you please be a more specific....????

Never mind , although they are two completely diff physical qtys they are both phasors . So we can indeed compare their phases.

. at t=0 inductor behave like an open circuit & at t= it act like a wire

phasor is da graphical representation of magnitude of current, emf. etc. which shows da representation how da magnitude get up and down..
