Take the edge of the topmost step as the origin. Write the equation of trajectory for the ball. Next, connect the edges of all the stairs. You'll see that this line forms an angle 45 with the horizontal. Its equation will be y = -x. Find the intersection point of this line and the particle's path. From the intersection point, you can count the no. of stairs
