chill mate..ppl arent logged on to this site 24X7..
well..friction acting on a body when it is stationary is called 'static' friction..so obviously since there is no displ (when static friction is acting on a body) d work done wud b zero always..
this is wat i think

I too agree with maxzy n besides I have never   seen a case where static fric has done any work

sorry---------------both of you are wrong!!!!!!  the answer is that work done by static friction is not always zero-------------but i cannot find the way to get to it--------------------had the question been so simple i would not have bothered asking it to the experts!!!!!!!!!!!

no the work done by static friction is not always zero....... consider a block kept over another block with rough surfaces....now a force is applied to a lower block so that acceleration of both the blocks are equal...since upper block doesnt slide on lower so static friction act on it....if u draw FBD of  upper block u'll see that only friction is acting in horizontal dirn so static friction moves the upper block......remember work done also depends on the frame of refernce...if u take the frame of refernce of lower block then work done is 0. i hope it cleared ur doubt......
