See relative velocity for the ball in both case with respect to lift would be zaro and acceleration relative to lift would be g.

So,

by applying second equation of motion

h=0.5*a*t^2

h is the height of lift

from here u will get the time and u will see it will be same for both the cases as a and h are same.

So
