A block of ice is kept on a large tray and the system is kept in gravity free zone . If the ice melts , find the shift in the position of centre of mass of the system .

com doesnt change its position bcoz no net external force is acting here. so the block of ice melts into water of shape of a sphere whithout change in com i guess.

the forces causing the change in state are internal since only an external force causes a change in the position of centre of mass the centre of mass retains its previous position

i think it does since there is no gravity so though the state changes there is nothing that can change its shape
