Rooney , the link you provided does not solve my problem. It does not tells clearly why the answer is not (A). Even I think the answer is (A). Somebody please help.

As you say when pushing a book, the work that you do "against friction" is apparently lost - it is certainly not available to the book as kinetic energy! Forces that do not store energy are called nonconservative or dissipative forces. Friction is a nonconservative force, and there are others. Any friction-type force, like air resistance, is a nonconservative force. The energy that it removes from the system is no longer available to the system for kinetic energy.
So, how is not clear that [A] is not the answer as it includes non-conservative forces
EDIT : Hmm well I thought about it. Consider you throw a block on a rough surface. So, initial kinetic energy is +ve. Friction acts on it and reduces K.E. to 0. So, there is change in K.E. So, answer could be [A]. I agree.

My question is CHANGE IN KE . For example when a block is slowly descending down an incline with friction, in that case the change in KE=0. It means that we have to consider the work done by friction also. Becoz if we consider the work done by mg only, than it would tend to increase the KE of the body. But as change in KE=0, it means that the work done by friction will aslo be considered.

Its A only. Rooney Let a body moving with velocity v is kept on floor with some friction. Its KE decreases. Its friction which is doing negative work on it.
In your example you are doing some positive work on the book while friction is doing some negative work on the book. If your fore is equal to frictional force then total work done on book is zero and hence there is no change in KE
