A particle is found to be at rest when seen from frame S1 and moving with a constant velocity when seen from another frame S2. Mark the possible options:

1. S1 is inertial and S2 is non-inertial frame.

2. Both the frames are non-inertial

3. Both the frames are inertial

4. Both 2. and 3. can be possible..

Please the post your answers along with explanation..Rates assured.

i think its d)
cos
both cases are possible
both the frames might be inertial if the particle is at rest and the first frame is also at rest and the second is moving with constant velocity.
so the first one sees it at rest and other moving with const velocity

both might be non inertial
if the body being observed is moving at an acceleration and the reference frames are also having the same acceleration

may b the ans is c
the option has been proved coorect by anchit but i feel the non tinertial concept is rong
coz if the body moves with an accel S1 will also move with the same accel so aggreed the body is observed 2 b at rest
but there is no possible accel or speed for which from s2 the boddy moves with const vello ...if as told by anchit it has the same acc so then it would b at rest
i may b wrong

let us cosider the 2nd case
we are sure that if the frame moves with accn =that of particle then it would be non inertial and the particle would be seen at rest

to prove
that the particle can also be seen moving with a constant velocity by the 2nd non inertial reference frame

let us think that the second frame of reference is already having some initial velocity when the object is at rest and then they both move with same acceleration. so the frame would see the object moving with constant velocity
won't it??

hey anchit if the frame is accelearating then for frame S2 cannot see it moving with constant velocity because their will be relative acceleration between them

for eg

body is moving with acc of 10m/s^2 now no matter what the frame is it can either see the body at rest(when it moves with the same acc as the body)
or their will be relative acceleartion b/w body & frame

so ans should be c)

priyesh what i am trying to say is that
suppose u are standing there and i (frame of reference) am moving with a constant velocity then i'll see u moving with a constant velocity , right!!
so now we both start accelerating with the same values.
so won't i still see u moving with a constant velocity even though i am non inertial frame
