when a man is in contact with a hollow cylinder, tell me in which direction  the force of friction will act? how?

if the man is simply in contact with the hollow cylinder, the direction of frictional force is indeterminate. the direction of frictional force is generally in the direction opposite to relative motion, and from the way the question is phrased (ie the man being simply in contact with the cylinder) it appears that frictional force is zero.

if not, please specify initial direction of motion of man.

Is the man inside the sphere or out side??
Is the sphere at rest or in motion??
Is the man in the vertical line passing through the centre mass of sphere?

Why dont you include a figure to make the problem clear??

@tka is right the direction of friction is opposite to the direction  of relative motion.......the question is not at all clear
