no the answer is b and should be b.......see...wen we take small steps..normal will be more and so automatically the friction force will be less...nd wen the friction force will be less nd normal will be m,ore...it will prvent sliipmg....(u can understnd this by a simple similiar condition...we hav studied tht friction is a necessary evil..tht is it is very imp.(besidwes havng sum disadvantage,)one of the most important contribution of friction is tht it helps us 2 sit on a chair or in other words if there is no friction we will nt be able 2 sit on a chair UNLES WE SIT ABSOLUTELY NORMAL TO THE PLAIN OF THE CHAIR...SIMILIARLY A THING KEPT ON A TABLE WILL SLIP UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL TO THE SURFACE .....)RATE IF SATISFIED .....CORRECT IF WRONG...

= f/N {where f is the frictional force and N is the normal force}
1 ...........so f/N
1 ......... therefore f

ya i don't see any point either.it should be (a).but perhaps there may be another reason......
