In A carram board(4ft.x4ft.) Queen is placed in the center.The striker hits the Queen,the queen hits the front edge and rebounds to enter the hole behind the striking line.Find the (i)The displacement of the queen from the center to the front edge.(ii)The displacement from the frontedge to the hole.(iii)The displacement from the center to the hole.

Let the origin be at left bottom of board.
So, coordinate of center C (2,2)
coordinate where queen goes into hole is H(4,0)
Now, let point on frontedge where queen hits frontedge have coordinates F(2+x,4)
Let k be the angle between CF and vertical line. k will also be the angle between FH and vertical. Draw the diagram. You will find two values of tan k in the diagram.
x/2=(2-x)/4
x=2/3

Now you know coordinates of F(8/3,4)
Use distance formula to get the answer
