The monkey B is holding on to the tail of the monkey q whcih is climbing the rope which is attached 2 a rigid wall. The masses of the mobkeys A & B are 5 kg & 2 kg respectively. If A can tolerate a tension of 30 N in its tail, what force should it apply on the rope in order to carry the monkey B with it ? Take g = 10 m/s2.

FOR MAXIMUM TENSION

T1-20=2A

HERE T=30 MAXIMUM LIMIT

10=2A

A=5

FOR THE OTHER MONKEY

T2-T1-50=5A (T2 IS THE FORCE APPLIED)

T2-30-50=25

T2=105

FOR THE 2ND CASE THE MONKEY DOES NOT MOVE

SO

T1=20

T2=T1+50

T2=70

THE FORCE EXERTED BY THE MONKEY ON THE ROPE IS T1
AND T2 IS THE TENSION ON THE TAIL OF THE 5KG MONKEY
