an automobile travelling at 60km/hr stops over a dist of 20m aftr brakes are applied.traffic is moving on the highway at 72km/hr. what is the mn dist at which a driver should follow the one before him,if he requires a min of 1 sec to decide and apply brakes??

I got the answer as 48.8 but i didn understand the question properly...i know answer given is something else..but what ans. did you get??

yes the answer is 28.8m
when v = 60km/hr = 100/6 m/s
using equation of motion acceleration = 250/36m/sec2
when v = 72 km/hr = 20m/s
find minimum distance it comes out to be 28.8m ( using acceleration as in the previous case)
1 sec is given to trap u
as the car moves a distance forward in 1 sec, the car before it also moves the same distance forward

Even i got 28.8 and then i added 20m it covers in 1 second...
