A satellite of mass 1000 kg is supposed to orbit the earth at a height of 2000km above the earth's surface. Find
(a) its speed in orbit
(b)its kinetic energy
(c)the potential energy of the earth-satellite system

Apply equation of circular motion

MV2/R = GmM/R2

You get speed in orbit.

1/2MV2 is its Kinetic energy.

-GmM/R is the potential energy of the earth-satellite system.

2R/V gives you the time period.
