IIT JEE QUESTION
TWO PAPER SREENS A AND B ARE SEPERATED BY A DISTANCEOF 100M. A BULLET PIERCES A AND THEN B. THE HOLE IN B IS 10CM BELOW THE HOLE IN A. IF THE BULLET IS TRAVELLING HORIZONTALLY AT THE TIME OF HITTING THE SREEN A, CALCULATE THE VELOCITY OF THE BULLET WHEN IT HIYS THE SREEN A.NEGLECT THE AIR RESISTANCE OF PAPER AND AIR

Time in which bullet falls down 0.1 m vertically = time in which bullet covers 100m horizontally

Vertical motion
s = 1/2 at^2
0.1 = 1/2 * 10* t^2
t^2 =0.1 / 5 = 0.02
t = sqrt(2) / 10 = 0.141seconds approx

Horizontal motion
speed = distance / time
speed = 100 m / 0.141 s
Speed = 709.21 m/s

This speed is horizontal speed. and as mentioned in question bullet is travelling horizontally at the time of hitting screen A hence, speed of bullet at the time of hitting A = 709.21 m/s approx
