b)see
the fact is that for A now the passengers are behind the engine ie the sound will travel opposite to the direction of motion of train hence

v A = 340 + 20 = 360 ie the velocities are added

for B
the motion of train is in same direction as that of the sound hence
v B = 340 - 30 = 310

the source is also moving
consider wrt ppl of train...u r sittin in the train...wrt 2 u the engine is stationary and u r stationary so how can u  get anything diff from 340??

did u try to understand the figure i gave ?

see the fact is that sound will move with 340 m/s
it has nothing to do with the train and anything else
now we take into consideration the passenger of A train

hence i got that answer
but still what is the answer ??

Shud be d)... Only the frequency heard by the observes changes.. .speed of sound remains the same for the two passengers

Will nip in at times to solve problems :)
