Friction is a self adjustible force. But there is a limit to this adjustible nature. Limiting friction is the maximum static friction that a surface can provide to a body. So, obviously limiting friction is static in nature. Once the limiting friction is overcome by the applied force, the body starts moving. After this, the friction which acts on the body opposing its motion, is called kinetic friction. Kinetic friction is a little less than limiting friction.
         Limiting friction f =s N, but kinetic friction F=  k N
where N is the normal contact force

limitin friction is the upper limit of static friction where the body is on the verge of sliding. it is the highest point in the friction curve
