a bobbin has an outer radius R kept on a rough surface. A light thread wound over it at a radius r is pulled horizontally with a velocity v. If the bobbin rolls without slipping. Calculate the speed of COM of bobbin.

Let Vcm be velocity of C.O.M..The thread is wound at a radius r..

Thus, Vcm+ωr=v..(1)

Also since it is in pure rolling, Vcm=ωR or ω=Vcm/R..(2)

From (1) and (2),we have
