Two persons each of mass 50kg are standing on a platfrom P of mass 10kg and is placed on a platform Q of mass 20kg...Now A starts moving towards B wrt to P with speed of 5m/s B is at rest...As a result of motion of A Q moves right with vel. of 5m/s....wrt ground....Cal the vel of B wrt ground/..... plz answer to get rated...plz answer fast...Click to enlarge..

check this soln lets conserve momentum rt ground frame consider plank P and B as a single boy as B is at rest wrt P hence velocity of P wrt grnd= vel of B wrt ground so mass of B+P=60 kg 50*5-20*5+60*vel of B+P=0(initial momentum) hence vel of B+P=-30*5/60=2.5 m/s opp to A find error in it

velocity of B cannot b equal to velocity of P
because it violates momentum conservation....
