let V be the volume of water before the ice is placed in it
V_{total [ initial]} = V + V_immeresed
                   now V_immersed = V*x/y = M/x*[x/y] = M/y
M - total mass of ice

now
V_total[final]= V + volume added by the melted ice + V_immersed
                V_immersed= [M - m]/ x *x/y = M-m / y
volume added by melted ice = m/x
so V_total[final] = V + m/x+ [M-m]/y
change in volume
V_change = V_total[final]- V_{total[initial]}
             = m/x + M/y -m/y -M/y                       V cancels out
              = m/x -m/y
solving we get
V_change = m ( y-x)/ xy

When this vol of ice melts, into water,we need to consider the relative density of ice which is nothing but x/y
