Q. A person standing in a lift drops a coin from a certain height h.It takes time t to reach the floor of the lift.If the lift is rising up with a uniform acceleration a, the time taken by the coin, dropped from the same height h, to reach the floor will be (a) t (b) t sqrt.a/g (c) t(1+a/g)^1/2 (d) t(1-a/g)^1/2 (plz.. dont forget to give explanation)

for the first case, when the lift is at rest,
h= 1/2 g t 2 ------------------------(1)
when the lift is moving upwards, effective acceln= a+g
h=1/2 (a+g)t 1 2
equating them, t 1 = t(1 + a/g) -1/2

see, let the new time be T, now during this time distance covered by coin,h1 = 1/2gt^2 downward and by lift,h2 = 1/2at^2 upward
now h1 + h2 = h ,
solve to get ur answer
