A bomb is dropped from a plane flying horizontally with uniform speed.Show that the bomb will explode vertically below the plane.Is the statement true if the plane flies with uniform speed but not horizontally?

Let speed of plane is V in horizontal direction this means that speed of bomb also has horizontal component equal to V when it is dropped .Now since there is no acceleration of the bomb in horizontal direction so bomb will always remain under the plane.
Second statement is wrong since in that case horizontal component of bomb velocity will be less than horizontal component of plane velocity that is V. So bomb will lag behind from plane and will explode behind the plane.
Edit: sorry i thought that bomb is flying slantingly in second part instead of plane

both the statements are true..... this can be explained by the fact that the bomb accelerates only in the vertical direction....... the horizontal component of the velocity always remains constant as that of the horizontal component of the velocity of the plane........ can be explained by FBDs.

The freely falling explosive experiences zero acceleration in horizontal direction. So, there will be no change in the speed of the explosive in horizontal direction. So, the explosive continues to move with the same sped of plane. So, the explosive always lies right below the plane...

The initial horizontal velocity of the explosive will be equal to that of the plane but, right from the next moment,the explosive will deaccelerate due to - (1)The air resistance (2)Lack of an engine-power to maintain constant horizontal velocity. As such the explosive will be lagging behind the plane instead of remaining continuously underneath it. Please clear my doubt.

see the main reason is that the horizontal component of the bomb and the plane is v. sao the bomb will explode directly below the aeroplane
|

see dude when ur considering these types of sums u dont hv to consider air resistance or any other thing plss dont think logically!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We generally neglect air resistance when we solve problems by ssuing ideal conditions. We are ideal students..... so we assume ideal conditions :-).
