AN APPLE IS HELD COMPLETELY SUBMERGED JUST BELOW THE SURFACE OF A CONTAINER OF WATER . THE APPLE IS THEN MOVED TO A DEEPER POINT IN THE WATER .COMPARED TO THE FORCE NEEDED TO HOLD THE APPLE JUST BELOW THE SURFACE , THE FORCE NEEDED TO HOLD IT AT A DEEPER PONT IS - A) LARGER B) THE SAME C) SMALLER D) IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWERS BCOZ I SEE ANOMALIES WHICH I WILL POST BUT IF I AM WRONG PL. the answer will be A.) LARGER...... because pressure increases with depth........
and by PRESSURE I MEAN BUOYANCY......... AS FOR THE FORMULA........ P =  hg where = density h = depth (-ve height) g = std gravity.......... thus pressure on the body (apple) will increase ith depth............ and A MUCH GREATER FORCE WILL BE REQUIRED TO HOLD IT IN THAT POSITION.......... THANKS

i think the ans is smaller.
the reason could be this: when the apple is held deeper into the water, it experiences forces from all directions while when it is just submerged, we are supposed to apply a force equivalent to buayant force on the apple in the downward direction. when it is deeper, the force due to the water column above the apple somewat balances the buoyant force.
is my ans correct????????

It would be the same since no xtra work is being done by the person in holding it at deeper point....i hope i am correct..

THE FORCE ACTING UPWARD IS BUOYANCY N FORCE ACTING DOWN WARD IS WT. OF APPLE RIGHT ?
NOW AS U LOWER THE APPLE INTO WATER AN ADDITIONAL WT OF WATER ABOVE APPLE ALSO ACTS INCREASING NET DOWNWARD FORCE N U TAKE THE APPLE REALLY LOW THEN THE WEIGHT OF WATER ABOVE IT IS NOT NEGLIGIBLE .

@ VISHWANATH........
C'MON YAAR ..........CHECK THIS FOR UR ANSWER..........
TAKE A BALOON FILLED WITH AIR ,
AND
CASE 1. PUSH IT JUST BEYOND THE WATER LEVEL........
you'll notice that the balloon comes up and starts floating on water level..........
CASE 2 : PUSH IT AT A MUCH DEEPER LEVEL IN WATER.......
you'll notice that it comes up with a much greater force and even actually leaves the water surface for a second..........
this shows that at a GREATER DEPTH BUOYANCY INCREASES.......
AND SO IT DOES WITH DENSITY....

A BALLON IS AN OBJECT WHICH FLOATS ON WATER BUT AN APPLE DOESNOT FLOAT ON WATER U KNOW LIKE UR EXAMPLE IS VALID ONLY 4 FLOATING BODIES .
SEE WHEN SHIPS SINK UNDER WATER AND THERE IS A PANTRY WHERE THERE IS AN APPLE UNLESS THE APPLE ROTS IT WONT COME OUT OF THAT PLACE OK NOW IF I TAKE U DEEP TO WATER REALLY DEEP 45 METERS THEN IMAGINE THE WT OF WATER ABOVE U CAN U STILL COME UP OWING TO BUOYANT FORCE U KNOW P DIFF

I MARKED THE OPTION AS SMALLER BUT I HAD A FEELING IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE BCOZ FOR SOME DEPTH WHAT LEO SAYS HOLDS GOOD AND F IS LARGER THEN DUE TO INCREASE IN WT OF WATER IT SHUD DECREASE AFTER THAT DEPTH N WHAT ABOUT VISCOUS FORCE U KNOW THE VELOCITY WITH WHICH THE APPLE IS TAKEN DOWN IS UNKNOWN

hey i think it would be the same ......
the forces on the apple will be the wt force and the the buoyant force. the buoyant force depends only on the volume of water displaced..and the denisty of the liquid in which it is submerged

dude dont get me wrong.........but u sound pretty confused......
listen........... when ur talkin about deep under water.............
do u know that the pressure on just 1 cm3/ vol at a depth of 50 metres and more is enough to dent our body....... but why does nothing happens when divers go even beyond 100 mtrs??.....
BECOZ THERE IS A PRESSURE INSIDE OUR BODY WHICH AT EVERY TIMES NEGATES THE OUTER ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE............. ANB DUDE THE FORMULA I GAVE P = hg IS A UNIVERSAL FORMULA FOR BOUYANCY.......... ALLRIT............AND NOT FOR FLOATING OR HEAVY BODIES......... UR TALKIN LIKE MEDIOCRES....MAN....... JUST BCOZ UR HEAVIER THAN A BALOON U THINK BUOYANCY STOPS ACTING YOU.........ITS JUST THAT IT GETS OVERPOWERED........ I HOPE IT DOES FOR YOU KNOW......

BUT ISN'T THERE A FILM OF WATER JUST ABOVE THE APPLE ITS LIKE MASS OF APPLE IS CONTINUOSLY INCREASING DUE TO WATER LEVEL ABOVE IT
