Neglect the effect of rotation of the earth .Suppose earth suddenlly stops attracting the objects placed near its surface . A person standing on the surface of the earth will
(A) fly up (B)slip along the surface

(C)fly along the tangent to the earth's surface

(d) remain standing

please explain the answer.

as effect of rotation is not there ,i think he would fly up.

If the person is standing , he will remain standing and if he tries to move , then he will start flying and never return to earth as there is no gravity .

Bcos when the gravity acts, then due to the contact with the Earth's surface, we have, N-mg=0 i.e no net force acts on the body.

When the gravity disappears, we have mg=0 (trivial) and we know that normal force acts when there is some press between two surfaces (in the above case, due to pressing caused by weight).

In this case bcos gravity disappears, there is no press and hence,N=0

i.e, even in this case, we have net force=0 just as in the above case. So, there won't be any change in the body's position. So, the ans is (d)....KGHEDRIU
